Vine charcoal is a traditional tool for life drawing. But it comes in very thin sticks, difficult to hold and easy to break. Charcoal made from thicker willow branches are bigger, but they’re never as soft or black as charcoal made from vine. And lumberyard cutoffs are just someone else’s trash.

Big Stick Charcoal is different. We found a wood that retains the soft texture and velvety black of vine charcoal. And we made it big, so you can hold it easily, use it longer, and concentrate on your art instead of your tool.

Big Stick Charcoal was created by artists for artists. We make Big Stick Charcoal in small batches, and test each stick before packaging, ensuring that you use the best drawing charcoal we can create.
